Things to do this January

As we bid farewell to the holiday season once again for another year (far too quickly if you ask us) we’ve got our heads together and listed a few things to do in London this month to try and ease the pain of those dreaded January blues, and for those attempting a Dry January, you’re in luck - they’re all alcohol free.

The Magical Lantern Festival
As London prepares for the annual Chinese New Year celebrations, the Magical Lantern Festival will be back for it’s second year with the theme of ‘Explore the Silk Road. A cultural exploration highlighting the significant route of trade and culture from Europe to Ancient China through life sized and oversized lantern scenes.

There’s also an entertainment area to keep the family entertained throughout the day including an appetising array of food and drink vendors.

Open from 19/01/2017 – 26/02/2017 in Chiswick House Gardens, tickets start from £5.90.

The London Boat Show
It’ll be all hands on deck at ExCel this January for London’s annual boat show. This ten day maritime event showcases a variety of vessels of all sizes from kayaks to super yachts. Leading experts, traders and boating celebrities will be offering demonstrations, talks and seminars throughout. If that’s not enough there will be a variety of activities to take part in at the Water sports park. One to visit for a family day out, especially as children under 15 are free to enter.

Open from 6/01/2017 – 15/01/2017, adult tickets from £20.

La La Land at the Hackney Picturehouse

With the awards ceremony in full swing, what better way to spend your January than nestling down with a bucket of buttery popcorn and keeping up to date with the latest motion pictures at Hackney’s iconic cinema, Hackney Picturehouse. This week the Golden Globes 2017 ceremony took place, in which La La Land swooped in and broke the record of most award won with a grand total of seven.
