Breaking a sweat

As we enter the early stages of marathon season, we caught up with the Assistant Lettings Manager of our Shoreditch branch, Kristian Sullings to discuss his participation in the annual Paris Marathon in aid of The Royal Marsden. If you would like to help support Kristian in his aim to raise money for The Royal Marsden then simply click here to donate.

Kristian's Marathon

Hi Kristian, how are you feeling about the upcoming marathon?

I’m really excited, albeit a bit nervous as it’s my first attempt, however it’s all for a good cause, so mostly excited.

First attempt, is that for Paris or first attempt ever?

I’ve never done a full marathon before, I did to a 10 k run a while back but nothing like this.

Interesting, so tell us what’s your training schedule been like?

I’ve tried to run at least three times a week which has been going well, however I have been a bit slack recently but I’m sure I’ll be okay, there’s still a bit of time to get those practice miles in!

Have you got a target time in mind?

I was aiming for under four hours but realistically I think it’ll be more like four and a half hours.

Your running to raise money for the Royal Marsden in honour of your late uncle, Stirling Ackroyd’s former chairman, James Goff and sadly other members of your family, what’s your total raising target?

I’m ideally hoping to raise £1000.00. I’ve set up a JustGiving page and I’m just past the half way mark which has been a great way to keep me focused whilst training.

Why is supporting charities like The Royal Marsden so important?

There is not a man of us who does not at times need a helping hand to be stretched out to him, and then shame upon him who will not stretch out the helping hand to his brother.” -   Theodore Roosevelt. This is my way of stretching out my helping hand.

Good luck Kristian! We’d say break a leg but in this instance we'll just wish you all the best!
