Stirling Ackroyd’s retail team have recently sold a 900 sq ft coffee shop in prime Whitechapel to the British multinational coffeehouse, Costa Coffee.
Acting for Fresh Coffee, we were asked to find a buyer confidentially for their lease at 275 Whitechapel High Street. The unit is adjacent to the station entrance and has many interesting architectural features, having originally been part of the original Whitechapel and Mile End District Line station. The rent on the property was £54,000 per annum and offers in excess of £100,000 were sought.
The Whitechapel and Aldgate areas are booming and this deal is further proof of the high demand for commercial retail space the area. The demand is influenced by major tower office and residential developments around Aldgate East, the highly successful Whitechapel Gallery, Queen Mary and London Metropolitan Universities, the new civic centre at the Royal London Hospital. As well as the key landmarks, Crossrail provides a major transport interchange with the London Underground and Overground networks.
