A guide to… Sunbury-On-Thames

Life in Sunbury-on-Thames is the perfect blend of green tranquillity and busy urban town. With its selection of shops, open spaces, pubs, restaurants and local activities life in Sunbury-on-Thames offers something to everyone.

Sunbury Cross Shopping Centre provides all of the shops you could need on a day-to-day basis and there is a 24 hour Tesco superstore. There is also a great selection of pubs and restaurants in Sunbury-on-Thames which offer a great evening out for all the family. If you like to stay fit and active, there are a range of gym and leisure activities suitable for all ages. Sunbury-on-Thames also has plenty of parks and green spaces in which you can walk, run, cycle or just relax in.

Famously, Sunbury-on-Thames is home to Kempton Park Racecourse, an attraction which always brings interest to the area and makes for a great family day out. Another famous event held in Sunbury-on-Thames is the Sunbury Amateur Regatta which attracts rowing supporters to the area each year.

If all that Sunbury-on-Thames has to offer isn’t enough, Sunbury-on-Thames has excellent transport links meaning you can easily access events such as Hampton Court Flower Show and other summer festivals at Hampton Court Palace as well as extra shopping and restaurant choices in Kingston, Richmond and Hampton.

There are also many known landmarks in Sunbury-on-Thames, including St Mary’s Church which was originally built in the medieval period and some of these initial foundations still exist today. Other areas of interest include Sunbury Court, Hawke House, Wheatley’s Ait (a residential island on the River Thames) and Sunbury House. The stunning Walled Garden is also well worth a visit, especially in the summer months when several concerts and outdoor plays are hosted in these grounds.

State Primary and Junior Schools in Sunbury-on-Thames include Beauclerc Infant and Nursery School, Chennestone Primary School, Hawkedale Infants and Springfield Primary School.

State Secondary Schools in Sunbury-on-Thames include Sunbury Manor, The Bishop Wand Church of England School and St Pauls Catholic College.
Private Schools in Sunbury-on-Thames include Halliford School and St James’s School.

There is a great selection of local transport links on offer in Sunbury-on-Thames.

If you travel via road, there is easy access to the M25, M3, A316 and the A30 meaning residents of Sunbury-on-Thames are very well connected. There is also a great selection of bus routes available which primarily run to Staines-upon-Thames, Ashford, Feltham, Kingston and Heathrow Airport but do go further afield.

Sunbury-on-Thames has its own mainline train station with direct access to London Waterloo. Also nearby are Feltham, Shepperton and Upper Halliford train stations which will also take you directly to London. Conveniently, nearby to Sunbury-on-Thames is Hatton Cross underground station which is served by the Piccadilly Line.
